(CNN) A male student shot and wounded two adult teachers at a Denver high school on Wednesday, according to city officials.
Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas said the shooting was reported at East High School around 9:50 a.m., and that police and paramedics were on the scene “very quickly” to find two male adults with gunshot wounds.
One teacher is in stable condition while the other is in critical condition, he said.
The suspected shooter was taken down as part of the school’s safety program. During the search, a handgun was recovered and several shots were fired, Thomas said. After that, the student ran away from the school and the search for him is going on.
Another student was taken to the hospital due to an allergic reaction, Mayor Michael Hancock said.
